Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Leaders including its President Sharad Pawar would be participating in the NCP National Convention to be held in Patna on May 11. The date has been announced at a press conference which was attended by NCP General Secretary and former Union Minister Tariq Anwar said NCP supports Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s objection to the 14th Finance Commission recommendation.

Top leaders of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) including senior NCP Leader Praful Patel would be the important members of the Convention. According to the media reports, it has been declared that, although, the center had increased the states’ tax share from 32 to 42 per cent, there has been a reduction in the allocation fund of the centrally sponsored schemes like BRGF, Sarvashiksha Abhiyan, Mid-day meal scheme, Pradhanmantri Gramin Sadak Yojana, NRHM and Rashtroya Krishi Vikas Yojana. This has culminated into an annual loss of nearly Rs. 1000 crore to Bihar.

Praful Patel being one of the leading members of NCP has remained to be one of the crucial factors for the prominence of the party in taking up some of the important decision pertaining to the nation’s progress. The backward regions of Gondia and Bhandara have now seen the light of development and progress being the Praful Patel constituency and are getting much attention as famous tourist attractions of the state.

Mr. Tariq Anwar claimed that the Modi Government has proved to be a failure in protecting the sanctity of the constitution and its provision. As refereed to the statements of RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and Subramaniyam Swamy, one cannot avoid prejudiced statements like ‘India is a Hindu Nation’ and ‘God Lives in temples alone and not in churches and mosques’. These are certain statements which can prove to be a severe blow in the face of secularism of India.

The NCP Leaders are wondering whether the Centre was not displaying its lack of sensitivity towards its constitutional responsibilities. India is gradually emerging as an intolerant society, while the Center is sitting tight over disintegration in society. The Land Acquisition Ordinance, branding it anti-farmer and anti-poor. Anwar asserted that that the party would oppose within and outside Parliament. The Ordinance is expressly aimed to benefit corporae houses according to him.
